Two police constables stabbed while resolving family dispute in Sundargarh

Two police constables were stabbed during an attempt to settle a family confrontation in the Tensa area of Sundargarh district on Wednesday.

As per reports, the incident unfolded in the C-Block area, where tensions escalated between two families.

Upon the arrival of the police personnel, the situation reportedly intensified. During efforts to disarm an individual of a family brandishing an axe, another family member attacked the constables with a knife.

Injured Constables Hospitalised

Both the injured constables were initially admitted to Tensa Hospital. However, escalating concerns about one constable's condition necessitated a transfer to a medical facility in Rourkela for further treatment. His condition is stated to be stable following treatment.

Police Response & Investigation

As part of the ongoing investigation, police have reportedly detained members from both the families involved in the altercation.

Lady Constable Found Dead

Earlier a day before, a young lady constable was found hanging inside a police barrack in Balasore district, sending shockwaves across the local police department and the community.

The deceased was identified as Yashoda Das. The incident came to light earlier in the day when fellow constables noticed Yashoda in a hanging state inside the barrack.
