Two minor girls drown in Odisha’s Cuttack

In a heart-wrenching incident, two minor girls aged about 10 years drowned while taking a bath in a pond at Kurangpradhan village under Sadar Police limits of Cuttack on Monday. 

The deceased have been identified as Sofia Khatun (10), daughter of Muhammad Asraf and Nandini Sahani (10), daughter of Rajesh Sahani. 

According to a source, three minor girls including Sofia and Nandini went to the village pond to take a bath. While enjoying their bath, their feet reportedly slipped and they went into the deeper part of the pond.

Later, local people fished them out of the pond and rushed them immediately to Mahidharpada Community Health Centre (CHC). However, it was too late by then.

The doctor at the CHC pronounced them 'received dead.' 

As the news of two minor girls’ untimely death spread, a pall of gloom descended on the village.
