Two of a family drowned in Devi River at Baredia village under Biridi Police limits in Jagatsinghpur district on Tuesday. The incident occurred while the victims were taking part in the tenth-day ritual of a relative. 

The deceased have been identified as Rinku Pal and Swadesh Pal of Baredia village. 

According to reports, the family members of BSF jawan Satya Ranjan Pal, who was killed in an accident, were observing his tenth-day rituals. After the completion of the rituals at home, the deceased jawan’s three brothers went to the Devi River near their village to take a dip. While bathing, the trio slipped and drowned one after the other.

After coming to know about the accident, the villagers immediately contacted the Fire Services department. Later, the Fire Services personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. They rescued the three. While one of them was out of danger, the other two were rushed to Adaspur government hospital. However, it was too late by then. The doctors declared them received dead. 

As the news broke, a pall of gloom descended on the village.
