A joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) and Commissionerate Police on Sunday arrested two inter-state drugs smugglers following a raid at Ghatikia near Odisha University of Technology Research Centre (OUAT), Bhubaneswar.

The accused have been identified as Mansingh Yadav of Uttar Pradesh and Mukesh Kumar Yadav of Bihar. The joint team has recovered Ganja (dry cannabis) more than 185 kg from their possession.

As per sources, both Mansingh and Mukesh were staying at Ganeswarpur under Industrial Police Station in Balasore district. A case has been registered at Bharatpur Police Station for necessary legal action in connection with the seizure of the contraband.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Special Task Force is undertaking a special drive against the narcotic drugs which is continuing since 2020.

As per senior officials, the STF has seized more than 68 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 grams of Cocaine and more than 113 quintals of Ganja/Marijuna, Opium 750 grams during its ongoing drive so far.

Around 168 drug dealers/peddlers have been arrested in different cases registered in different parts of the state.
