A two-day annual flower exhibition organised by the Regional Plant Resource Centre (RPRC) in collaboration with Plant Lovers’ Association kicked off in Bhubaneswar on Saturday at Ekamra Kanan which is also known as the Botanical Garden.

Forest and Environment Minister Pradip Kumar Amat inaugurated the 34th exhibition which will showcase a wide collection of Rose, Dahlia, Seasonal Chrysanthemum (Sebati), Marigold, Garbera, Zinnia, Astoria, Calendula, Lilium, Gladiolus and Anthurium flowers among others.

However, the central attraction of the exhibition is the Bonsai, Orchids and succulent flowers.

According to sources, the RPRC has been organising the state-level annual flower show on the premises of Ekamra Kanan on the second Saturday and Sunday of January every year since 2006. However, the exhibition was not held for last two years due to Covid restrictions.

A flower lover said, “We really missed it in last two years. Our excitement knew no bounds when we learnt that the government is organizing this flower show after a gap of two years. My children enjoy visiting here. They get to know the names of different flowers from the exhibition.”

“The Orchid section and colourful floral gate at the entrance are central attractions of the flower show. I fell in love with the exhibition although I visited it for the very first time,” said another visitor.

Also, a Plant Bazaar has been organized at Ekamra where different saplings, seeds, seedlings, garden tools and implements, fertilizers and pesticides are available at reasonable cost.
