In a shocking incident, two cousins drowned while bathing in a pond in Nayagarh district on Monday. A pal of gloom descended on Abhimanpur of the Itamati area after the incident.
As per reports, the deceased were identified as Prayana Kar (11), and his cousin Linkun Kar (12). Family sources said that before going to school, the brothers had gone to the village pond to take a bath. It was stated that as their legs slipped accidentally, they drowned.
Gokul Nayak, a villager said, “The two children, after returning from tuition in the morning, went to the pond for a bath. As the duo did not return home for hours, family members along with villagers searched for them. Their trousers and shirts were found on the banks of the pond. Later, they were fished out from the pond.”
The two were rushed to the district headquarters hospital in Nayagarh where they were pronounced dead.
