Two brothers killed in fatal truck-scooter collision on NH 49 in Odisha

Two brothers, Rabindra Behera and Atmananda Behera from Chandanpur village, died in a fatal collision between their scooter and a truck on NH 49 in Bangiriposhi, Mayurbhanj district.

In a fatal road accident, two brothers died after a truck hit their scooter and dragged them for nearly 30 mts on the overbridge on NH 49 passing through Bangiriposhi in the Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Rabindra Behera and his younger brother Atmananda Behera of Chandanpur village.

Reportedly, Rabindra and Atmananda were returning home after completing their fish business work when the deadly accident occurred.

As per eyewitnesses, the truck after hitting the scooter dragged it for nearly 30 meters resulting in the death of both brothers on the spot.

Reportedly, locals caught hold of the truck driver after the incident and handed him over to the police.

On being informed, police reached the spot and sent the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem. 

Meanwhile, police have detained the driver and registered a case. They are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
