Two minor boys allegedly drowned in a canal at Baliamba village under Handapa police limits of Angul district on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Badal Behera (9), son of Kalia Behera and Surendra Pradhan (9), son of Jayant Pradhan.
According to sources, after returning from school, Badal and Surendra had gone to the canal nearby their village. It is suspected that while playing, they somehow might have slipped and drowned. When they did not return home after a long time, their family members launched a frantic search for them. Later, they found them buried in sand in the canal.

On being informed, the police reached the spot, and recovered the bodies for post-mortem. When asked about the deaths, Handapa Police Station IIC said it is too early to say anything and they are waiting for the post-mortem report.
