Truck rams into Kolkata-Bhubaneswar bound bus, eight passengers critical

At least eight persons sustained critical injuries as the bus they were travelling in overturned after being hit by a speeding truck from behind in Balasore district. The road mishap occurred on the National Highway near Shantia bypass in Jaleswar.

As per initial reports, around 40 passengers were travelling in the private bus which was on its way to Kolkata from Bhubaneswar.

Manoj Kumar Nayak, driver of the bus said, "A speed-breaker was recently installed at the spot for which I had slowed down the vehicle. It was during this period that a truck hit my bus from behind." 

Nayak further informed that the bus subsequently overturned under the impact of the collision. The accident occurred at around 2:45 am.

Following the accident, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
