Truck mows down 2 Kanwariyas, 1 labourer in Ganjam

In a tragic incident, at least three persons including two Kanwariyas died after being run over by a speeding truck in Ganjam district on Saturday. The mishap occurred near Dimiria chhak on NH 16 under Khallikote police limits.

The two deceased Kanwariyas have been identified as Ranjit Nayak and Sapu Nayak of Banpur area in Khordha district. The identity of the labourer is yet to be identified.

As per initial reports, 10 Kanwariyas from Khordha district were standing on the National Highway when the mishap occurred. The goods-laden truck was on its way to Kolkata from Andhra Pradesh. T

he Bolbum devotees had fetched water from Rushikulya river and were on their way to Banapur. After hitting the Kanwariyas, the truck, later, ran over another labourer and overturned. The driver of the truck has also been injured in the accident.

On getting information, Khallikote police officials reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
