Truck driver ‘run over by rival trucker’ following scuffle in Odisha’s Jharsuguda

A bizarre incident unfolded late last night on the Biju Expressway under Sadar police limits in Jharsuguda district, where a heated argument between two truck drivers escalated and turned deadly. One driver was allegedly run over by a Hyva truck by another driver after a scuffle, sources said on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Mahakul from Bihar.

According to sources, in a shocking turn of events, a violent altercation between two truck drivers ended in tragedy on Biju Expressway, within the jurisdiction of Jharsuguda Sadar Police Station. The drivers were on their way from Jharsuguda to Sambalpur when a verbal spat broke out.

Victim driver's body got separated from thigh

The situation escalated when one driver began attacking the other with stones and bricks. In the scuffle, the second driver climbed onto his truck. In an attempt to escape, the accused driver started driving the truck away, leading to the death of the first driver.

As the victim driver tried to chase and intercept the second driver and, in the process, came to the front of the vehicle while running with a brick in his hand, which he had picked up from the roadside, he was allegedly run over. The severely injured driver was later rescued by some locals and rushed to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, the driver allegedly ‘responsible’ for the act has fled the scene and is currently absconding. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused, and an investigation is underway.
