Landslide in Koraput, Several Trains Cancelled
Train services were affected in Odisha's Koraput district after a boulder fell on the railway tracks between Manabar and Jirati station in the wee hours on Sunday.
As per initial reports, the incident occurred while sand and stones were brought to carry out a doubling-line work. At around 3 a.m., following a landslide, huge chunks of mud and boulders rolled down and fell on the railway tracks leading to the inconvenience.
Eight trains have been cancelled and routes of several other trains had to be changed. Jagdalpur- Vishakapatnam Express has been halted at Koraput railway station. The passengers of several other trains are also stranded at the station.
Several electric poles have also been damaged in the landslide. Sources said that around 10 electric poles were broken in the incident.
