The capital city seems to be turning into a safe haven for the looters with a series of loot incidents coming to the fore frequently. In the latest instance, some miscreants targeted the house of a top government official in Bhubaneswar.

The robbers looted Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 8 lakh from the house of the Panchayati Raj department’s additional director at Gandamunda under Khandagiri police station limits in Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the robbers sneaked into the house of Chote Lal Sharma and decamped with cash and gold ornaments.

Sharma lodged a complaint at Khandagiri police station regarding the incident. The police initiated a probe into the matter as per the complaint.

It is to be noted that in December last year, a gang looted valuables from five flats of an apartment in the Gadakana area of Bhubaneswar.

In a similar incident on December 11, some unidentified miscreants targeted an Automated teller machine (ATM) of the State Bank of India (SBI) and decamped with over Rs 10 lakh cash in Bhubaneswar.
