Mamata Devi Jain, the Chairperson of Titilagarh Municipality Council launched a scathing attack against the ruling BJD for favouritism and controlling the administration.  She accused the ruling party of influencing the administration and doing petty politics to sideline her from major events in the municipality.

As per the Chairperson, a programme was organized on the occasion of Utkal Dibasa on Saturday in the presence of the district collector, SDPO and other senior officials. She was also invited as a guest.

When Jain reached the venue, she was made to sit with the public while her junior, the vice-chairperson was called on to the dais. Feeling humiliated, she returned home and slammed the dirty politics.

“The administration had organized a programme on the occasion of Utkal Dibasa. As the chairman, I was invited as the chief guest. I had received the invitation card four days back. I had very happily agreed to be part of the programme, but when I reached the venue, I was not even given a seat,” alleged Mamata Devi Jain, Chairperson, Titilagarh Municipal Council.

“Because I belong to the Opposition, I was made to sit with the public while they called the vice-chairman to the dais even as I was sitting with the public. Is this party politics or Utkal Dibasa?” she questioned.

On the other hand, Pushpanjali Jal, Vice Chairperson, Titilagarh Municipal Council refuted all the allegations that the administration was running on the orders of the ruling party and said it was a miss by the anchor of the programme and there was no party feeling.

“We are peoples’ representatives. There is nothing like BJD or BJP when it comes to the service of the common man. If need arises, we may have to go to battlefields for our people. So, there are no differences between us and we should all work together for the betterment of the common people,” she added.

Meanwhile, the administrative officials could not be contacted over the allegations.
