Three persons dead, 13 injured as marriage party pickup van turns turtle near Rourkela

In a tragic accident, three persons lost their lives while 13 others were injured after the pickup van they were travelling in turned turtle at Mundajor under Sundargarh’s Lathikata police limits on Thursday night.

The passengers were baaraatis from Jharkhand who were returning home after attending a marriage at Lathikata.

All the injured were initially admitted to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) for treatment. However, three of them were later shifted to a private hospital in the Steel City after their condition deteriorated.

As per reports, the van was overspeeding during its return to Jharkhand when the driver lost control of the steering wheel on a ghat near Lathikata and turned turtle.

The police sent the bodies for post-mortem and launched a probe in this connection.
