Three dead as bus runs over two scooters in Puri

A couple and a youth were killed after a passengers bus hit them near Omkareswar square in Puri on Monday afternoon.

The deceased couple has been identified as Satyaniranjan Das (55) and Gayatri Das (50) from Berhampur.

The other deceased is Rakesh Nanda, a friend of Satyaranjan’s nephew.

As per reports, the couple had gone to attend the ring ceremony of their nephew on Monday morning. On their return, Gayatri was riding pillion on a scooter driven by Rakesh, while Satyaniranjan was tailing them behind on another scooter.

On their way back, the bus hit them near Omkareswar square killing all three of them on the spot.

Following the mishap, the driver of the bus surrendered at Baselisahi Police Station with the bus.

A probe has been launched by the police.
