According to sources, the accident occurred near Thana village under Jarada police limits. The deceased were identified as Dau Gouda and his son Santosh Gouda from Samantarapur, and Rajesh Panigrahi from Goilundi village. A fourth person sustained severe injuries and has been admitted to the Patrapur health centre.

Rajesh and his companions were returning from a picnic when their bike collided head-on with another bike coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that both motorcycles were crushed on the spot.

The accident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in rural Odisha, where narrow, poorly maintained roads and high-speed driving continue to pose fatal risks. The local police have started an investigation and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

Families of the deceased persons are in shock, and the villagers have called for urgent road safety measures in the locality. A pall of gloom descended on the two villages.

No comments were received from local police or the bereaved families in this regard.
