The ongoing controversy surrounding Leader of Opposition Jayanarayan Mishra and a lady police officer has now snowballed into a major controversy after BJD leader and former IPS officer Arup Patnaik allegedly made some derogatory remarks against the BJP leader.

Protesting the threats issued by Patnaik to Mishra, the BJP MLAs on Friday took out a padayatra and lodged a complaint against the BJD leader at the Capital Police Station.

The BJP delegation led by MLA Mohan Majhi also moved the Odisha Governor seeking protection for the Leader of Opposition.

BJP MLA, Mohan Majhi today alleged that there has been a conspiracy to kill Mishra as BJD leader Arup Patnaik has issued threats.

“Instead of nabbing the culprits and conspirators involved in the assassination of health Minister Naba Das, the state government is hatching a conspiracy to arrest the Leader of Opposition so that he doesn’t create anything that will put the government on the back foot during the Assembly session,” alleged Majhi.

Majhi further alleged that the Lady IIC had attacked Jayanarayan Mishra and subsequently a senior leader of BJD and former IPS Arup Patnaik threatened to kill Mishra while addressing a public meeting in Bhubaneswar yesterday.

“It is a conspiracy by the state government not to allow Jayanarayan Mishra into the Assembly for the upcoming budget session. We have lodged a complaint demanding immediate arrest of BJD leader Arup Patnaik. The BJP is also demanding adequate security for Jayanarayan Mishra,” Majhi added.

Earlier on Thursday, while addressing a gathering during BJD’s demonstration in Bhubaneswar, Patnaik, without taking the name of the Leader of the Opposition, (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra, issued threats.

“The person, who was seen pushing the Lady IIC, is yet to come face-to-face in a similar situation against us. He can best judge what will be the consequences if that happens,” Patnaik had said.
