The Social Environmental & Educational Welfare Association (SEEWA), an organisation founded by retired teachers and professors in Jeypore, is providing free coaching to job aspirants. And it is proving to be a boon for the poor and the downtrodden in the tribal-dominated Koraput district.

The coaching centre which specialises in providing coaching for CRPF, CISF, BSF and Odisha Police jobs has already made its name by making a lot of its students qualify for Odisha and Central government jobs.

Pratap Patnaik, Co-Founder of SEEWA said, “This is a free coaching service for job aspirants from poor backgrounds. This is our third batch. We had initially started a 3-month programme where seven students were selected.”

“Then in the subsequent year, we held a 100-day workshop with 25 students out of which 16 were selected for the job,” he added.

Janardan Panda, a retired English teacher who is imparting his knowledge to students, said, “We do not go into detailed studies. Our aim is to prepare them to succeed in the written tests and face interviews. We teach them how to understand the questions better and answer all the questions accurately.”

It is pertinent to mention here that while the job aspirants in a tribal-dominated district like Koraput pass in the physical tests easily, they find it hard to clear the written test.

Bikash Nayak, a former student of SEEWA said, “There are only one or two private coaching centres in Jeypore and they charge Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 which is impossible for us to pay. So, this coaching centre with free coaching is a boon for us.”

“They coach us in all subjects necessary to qualify the written exams for government jobs. I was a student of this coaching centre and qualified for Odisha Police,” he added.

This organisation has proved that if a student gets a good teacher at the right time, then their future is bright.
