Three persons including a suspected thief and two employees of a road construction company died after getting hit by a dumper truck on Monday night near Bileimundia under Sundargarh’s Hemagiri police limits.

The deceased have been identified as Manas Kumar Rath, Prince Nayak, and Budha Chitiki, who is suspected to be the thief.

As per reports, an overturned SUV was lying unattended near Bileimundia on Bankbahal-Taparia road. Thinking this to be an opportunity, three thieves tried to steal the tyres and other equipment from the SUV on Monday night.

However, a security guard and supervisor of a road construction company reportedly caught the thieves and it resulted in a scuffle between them. When the security guard and supervisor were chasing the thieves, they came in front of a speeding dumper truck which overturned after hitting them.

The guard, the supervisor, and a thief died on the spot.

Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies.

The police have launched an investigation in this connection after registering a case.
