Tension ran high at a private hospital at Remuna in Balasore district on Wednesday over death of a girl child with the deceased’s family blaming doctors’ negligence for the mishap.

According to sources, Ajit Kumar Behera’s wife Archana was admitted to a nursing home located near Chidia bridge when she complained of labour pain. She delivered a baby girl who died after three days of birth.

Meanwhile, the newborn’s parents accused the doctors of not attending the baby girl on time which led to her death.

Upon being informed, Town Police rushed to the hospital and started investigation.

Father of the dead child said, “Initially, I had taken my wife to a government hospital here in Balasore. Later, I shifted her to the nursing home thinking that she would be given best service. However, they killed my daughter after three days of her birth.”

Umesh Khandewal, owner of the nursing home, said, “The baby girl died due to overfeeding. Parents of the baby called the doctor when she had already stopped responding due to overfeeding. So, the doctor and the nurse are not responsible for her death. There is no truth in the allegations leveled by the deceased’s parents.”
