Tara Tarini Temple development: Odisha govt orders fresh DPR, launches Rs 550 Cr infra boost for Ganjam
The Odisha government will prepare a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the development of the Tara Tarini temple, a revered Shakti shrine located in the Purusottampur block of Ganjam district.
The decision was announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during his visit to Aska on Monday, where he participated in a state-level youth convention to mark one year of his government, reported The Times of India.
While the temple upgrade was a key highlight, the Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for multiple infrastructure projects totalling Rs 550 crore, signalling a broader push to boost connectivity, agriculture, and youth-oriented development in the district.
Among the projects launched were five irrigation schemes, a high-level bridge, and major road expansion works, which are expected to irrigate 5,845 hectares of land across several blocks.
At the youth convention, the Chief Minister said that Odisha is preparing for a ‘golden era’ led by its young population. With 1.7 crore people aged 15 to 35, the state is banking on its youth to drive its ambition of becoming a USD 500 billion economy by 2036, and USD 1.5 trillion by 2047.
To facilitate this, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of a world-class industrial training institute (ITI) at Polasara, aimed at equipping youth with industry-relevant skills. The Odisha government also reiterated its decision to reserve 11.25% of higher education seats for SEBC students.
