A day after a man lost his life after his car plunged into Taladanda canal, Cuttack Collector Bhawani Shankar Chayani on Tuesday said that a report has been sought in connection with the mishap.

“In connection with yesterday’s incident, the superintending engineer of the R&B department and Sub-Collector (Sadar) have been asked to submit a report,” informed the Cuttack Collector.

According to Chayani, preliminary investigation suggests that it was an accident. The driver of the car lost control of the steering wheel when the construction work was going on.

On allegations that no safety measures were taken at the construction site, the Collector said, “Many a time, people break the barricades and enter the spot where the accident occurred.”

It is pertinent to mention here that two persons, including a woman, sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in plunged into the Taladanda canal on Monday. The driver of the car subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
