A suspected family dispute ended in tragedy when a man died by suicide after allegedly killing his wife at Damakuda village under Talasara police station in Sundargarh district.

The bodies of Hemanta Dandasena and his wife were recovered from their house on Wednesday.

Talasara police started an investigation into the incident. A scientific has also been pressed into action.

Though the exact reason behind the tragic incident is yet to be ascertained, local people are of the opinion that it might have happened due to family feud.

As per reports, Hemanta had tied the nuptial knot with his wife a year ago. After the marriage, Hemanta had gone outside the State to earn a living as a migrant worker. He returned home on Holi. The couple started living separately following a feud with Hemanta's family members.

Both of them used to work in the nearby brick kiln to earn their living. They also went there to work last evening. However, their bodies were recovered from their house the next morning.

As per the primary investigation, Hemanta and his wife had an altercation in the evening. During the argument, Hemanta lost his cool and in a fit of rage smothered his wife to death with the help of a pillow. He then hanged himself with the ceiling of the house.

Police said further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
