On the eve of New Year’s Day, internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a 25-ft-high sand sculpture of Lord Jagannath's ' Bada Singhara Besha'  at Puri beach on Sunday. 

To welcome 2024, the internationally acclaimed sand artist sculpted this huge sand sculpture. He used several types of flowers like marigolds and roses to make his art colourful as well as attractive. 

What needs a mention is the creation of details like ‘Nakachana’, ‘Hridaya Padak’, ‘Kara Pallab’ in the sculpture. The sand artist also wrote ‘Jay Jagannath’ on his art.

This sand art has been drawing huge crowds who thronged the pilgrim city to welcome the New Year. 

Notably, the Padma Shri recipient sand artist created the biggest-ever sand sculpture of Santa Claus at Puri beach on December 24. The sculpture made of sand and onions to celebrate Christmas created a world record after it was placed in the World Records Book of India.

As per reports, the sculpture was 40 ft high, 100 ft long, and 20 ft wide and was made of sand and two tonnes of onions. The colossal sand sculpture took eight days for a team of 32 students led by Sudarsan to complete. The massive sand art had then drawn huge crowds at the beach.
