Over one lakh women have been excluded from receiving the second installment of the popular Subhadra Yojana of Odisha government due to discrepancies between their ration card details and declared income, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed on Wednesday.

Exclusion Due To Ration Card-Income Discrepancy 

According to Odisha government sources, while the affected women had received the first installment, they were later disqualified due to their income levels exceeding the eligibility threshold. Many returned their ration cards as their financial status improved. Cases have emerged where individuals purchased vehicles or provided higher-than-expected paddy yields to mandis, leading to their exclusion from the Subhadra scheme.

Government Plans One-on-One Survey Post March 31

In response to the issue, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced that a one-on-one survey would be conducted after March 31 to assess the eligibility of affected beneficiaries. This survey aims to verify income details and ensure only eligible women receive the scheme's benefits.

Relief for Eligible Beneficiaries by Rakhi Purnima (Raksha Bandhan)

The government has assured that deserving beneficiaries who were excluded due to documentation mismatches will receive their second installment by Rakhi Purnima. Additionally, women turning 21 by March 31 will have the opportunity to apply for benefits under the Subhadra scheme.

The Subhadra Yojana is a key initiative aimed at empowering women by providing financial assistance. The government’s latest measures seek to address concerns and ensure a fair distribution process for all eligible recipients.
