SUBHADRA Yojana: Odisha warns against corrupt practices in supply of forms, sends stern message

The Kendrapara district administration has withheld the salary of two Anganwadi workers following complaints of bribery regarding application forms for Subhadra Yojana. Pushpalata Panda, one of the accused, allegedly misbehaved with applicants. The Odisha government has directed Collectors to investigate these practices and take stringent action.

Highlighting complaints regarding briber demand for application forms of Subhadra Yojana, the Kendrapara district administration recently withheld the salary of two Anganwadi workers. It has been seen as the Odisha government's zero tolerance towards any corrupt practice in rolling out the scheme.

Acting on allegations of the Anganwadi workers demanding money, the administration directed to withhold their salary. The two Anganwadi workers have been accused of demanding money for providing the application forms and charging extra money for helping uneducated people fill up the form.

Pushpalata Panda, one of the Anganwadi workers also allegedly misbehaved with the women applicants and has been accused of threatening people. The other Anganwadi worker of Derabish Saradeipur has been accused of turning away people without giving them the application forms.

On the other hand, two Jana Seva Kendras also faced the music for demanding money from the applicants.

SUBHADRA Yojana: Odisha Govt Sends Stern Message

The Odisha government has shot out a letter to the Collectors to enquire about such practices and take stringent action.

“As per feedback received from Subhadra toll-free helpline number, it has been alleged that AWWs of some of the Projects are demanding money from the beneficiaries for providing the application form and its fill up,” the Department of Women and Child Development said in its letter to the district Collectors.

“You are therefore requested to enquire into the matter and take stringent action against the AWWs or any other ICDS staff for their corrupt activities in the smooth implementation of the Subhadra Scheme,” read the letter.
