SUBHADRA Scheme For Odisha Women: How To Apply & Who Is Eligible?

Named after Goddess Subhadra, the younger sibling of Lord Jagannath- the presiding deity of Odisha, the Odisha government launched the ambitious women-centric SUBHADRA Yojana on PM Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17, 2024.

The scheme aims to support more than 1 crore women aged 21 to 60, transferring Rs 10,000 annually directly to the bank accounts of eligible women beneficiaries. Under the scheme, women will receive a total of Rs 50,000 over five years spanning from 2024-2025 to 2028-2029.

What is SUBHADRA Yojana?

Rs 10,000 will be provided a year in two equal installments of Rs 5,000 each. The first installment of Rs 5,000 will be sent on International Women’s Day while the second installment will be made on Rakhi Purnima (Raksha Bandhan).

Every year, the beneficiaries will directly get the money in their bank accounts on March 8 (International Women’s Day and on Rakhi Purnima (August) with an aim to empower women, provide safety nets to them and their families, and uplift them.

Goals/Objectives of SUBHADRA Yojana
The main goals is to empower women by offering financial support, improving awareness of their rights, improving health and educational outcomes, promoting financial independence and entrepreneurship, encouraging digital financial literacy, and fostering personal and professional growth.

How to Enroll in Subhadra Yojana:

1. Applicants must visit the nearest Anganwadi center, block office, local body office or common service center (CSC) to collect the application form.

2. Carefully fill out the form with accurate information.

3. Submit the filled up form at the Common Service Center.

Subhadra Yojana Eligibility Criteria

1. The applicant must be a resident of Odisha.

2. The applicant should be covered under National Food Security Act (NFSA).

3. Any woman from a family without an NFSA card can apply if her family is not more than Rs 2.50 lakh.

4. To be eligible under the scheme, the applicant’s age should be 21 years or more and less than 60 years. The date of birth on Aadhaar card would be taken as the final date for the age calculation.

Ineligibility Criteria:

1. Any woman receiving financial assistance such as pension, scholarship of Rs 1500 per month or more or Rs 18000 per annum or more under any State or Central Government scheme would be ineligible.

2. A current or former MP or MLA, Income Tax Payee, elected public representative or employed as a regular or contractual employee in the state government of India.

3. The family of the applicant owns more than 5 acre of irrigated land or 10 acres of non-irrigated land.

1. If any mistakes are found in the form, the application will not be accepted.

2. If the applicant does not have an Aadhaar number or if there is a mismatch in the Aadhaar details.

Extra Benefits Under Subhadra Yojana

The Beneficiaries will be provided with SUBHADRA Card (ATM-cum-debit card). To incentivize and encourage digital transactions, the government will launch comprehensive rewards and recognition programme. Under this, 100 women in each Gram Panchayat/Urban Local Body who undertake the highest number of digital transactions, in a particular financial year in each of the GP/ULB would receive an additional benefit of Rs 500 in their bank accounts.
