The Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested three more persons for allegedly demanding Rs 200 each for the registration and application forms of Subhadra Yojana in Bhubaneswar. Among the three accused is a young couple from the Chandrasekhapur area.
They have been identified as Sasmita Jena and her husband Ranjit Jena. The accused duo who run a Jana Seva Kendra in Chandrasekhapur were allegedly demanding Rs 200 each from applicants for the application forms.
On being informed, Chandrasekhapur police arrested the duo and forwarded them to court.
Similarly, another Jana Seva Kendra employee was arrested in Kharvela Nagar for selling Subhadra application forms without authorization from the government.
“Now everywhere the registration and form fill-up process is going on for Subhadra Yojana applicants. Bhubaneswar police are making every possible effort to ensure the process goes on peacefully. Our team is regularly visiting Jana Seva Kendras to ensure that there is no demand for money from the applicants as it is a completely free process,” informed DCP Prateek Singh.
“Yesterday, we received a complaint that a Jana Seva Kendra in Chandrasekhapur was demanding Rs 200 for the application form. The accused duo has been identified as Sasmita Jena and her husband Ranjit Jena. Chandrasekharpur police registered a case against the two under section 31 (A), 296, 132, 3(5) BNS,” he added.
“Similarly, we received a complaint from in Kharvela Nagar, where a Jana Seva Kendra which is not authorised to distribute the application forms was illegally demanding money and selling the forms. The accused Ratikanta Sahu has been arrested,” the DCP added.
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has launched a free Helpline Number 7077798111 for those facing scams while applying for Subhadra Yojana.
