Subhadra Shakti Mela in Bhubaneswar created 400 ‘lakhpati didis’ in 9 days: Odisha Dy CM
The Subhadra Shakti Mela, held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, concluded on Sunday after nine days. Odisha Deputy CM Pravati Parida took the stage to deliver a conclusion speech and stated that the women-centric event, featuring Mission Shakti Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from across the state, made a business of Rs 5 crore.
Women Earn Lakhs in Bhubaneswar Subhadra Shakrti Mela:
The Deputy CM further said that the fair attracted around seven lakh visitors and successfully created 400 ‘Lakhpati Didis’ (women earning Rs 1 lakh or more). Further, the Subhadra Shkatri Mela, which began on February 22, featured 300 stalls and saw the participation of 700 Self-Help Group (SHG) women.
During the event’s closing ceremony, Pravati Parida honoured women entrepreneurs of the SHGs who performed exceptionally well in business. “Out of the 620 potential lakhapti didis, around 400 achieved the target in these nine days and more women will clinch this milestone as similar fairs are underway at several parts of the state currently,” she added.

Similar Subhadra Shakti Mela featuring women SHGs are underway in Puri, Bolangir, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, and Sambalpur, largely encouraging women to take up entrepreneurship and achieve financial independence, in line with the broader goal of the ‘Viksit Bharat’ mission of the Union Government.
Subhadra Yojana Crosses 1 Crore Mark:
Earlier on the same day, Pravati Parida also announced that the state government’s ambitious Subhadra Yojana scheme crossed one crore registration mark, assuring a large pool of women beneficiaries in the state.

The scheme aims at empowering women by providing them with financial assistance of a total of Rs 50,000 over five years, with Rs 10,000 being distributed annually, in two different instalments.
