Sub-Postmaster found dead inside post office in Bolangir under mysterious circumstances

The body of a sub-postmaster was recovered under mysterious circumstances from the premises of Bangomunda Post Office in Bolangir district on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Narendra Kumar Bhoi, who was recently posted at the branch and had been staying on the office premises.

According to sources, everything appeared normal until the previous night. However, suspicion arose on Saturday morning when the office door remained shut for an unusually long period. 

Colleagues tried knocking, but there was no response. Upon being informed, Bangomunda police arrived at the scene and broke open the door to find Narendra lying unresponsive inside.

Declared Dead At Medical Facility

Police shifted him to a nearby medical facility, where doctors declared him dead. The cause of death currently remains unknown.

Ashish Neura, Supervisor, Post Office, Titilagarh Sub-Division, said, "My senior called me and asked me to visit, saying that something had happened. After reaching, I found SPM Narendra Kumar Bhoi in an unconscious state, following which we called an ambulance. After reaching the hospital, the authorities started asking for his personal details. They have not informed us much about his condition. We are currently trying to gather his home address and other information.”

He had been posted at this branch very recently, about a week or two ago. When other workers knocked on the door, there was no response, following which the local police were called. The police then broke open the door and found him in an unresponsive state. He was then moved to the hospital,” he added further.

The police have not yet issued an official statement. The incident has raised several questions, and an investigation is currently underway.
