In a shocking incident, a divyang youth has been allegedly thrashed by a Sub-Inspector in the Khallikote area of Ganjam district. The victim Rajendra Nahak from Shyamsundar village sustained multiple injuries after he was allegedly beaten up by the Sub-Inspector Himanshu Patra.

As per initial reports, Patra along with some other police personnel had conducted a raid at the village after getting inputs regarding the storage of firecrackers. It is alleged that Patra, constable Rudra Bhatamishra, and others thrashed the Divyang youth during the raid.

Following the incident, the victim lodged a complaint with Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meena in connection with the incident.

"The Sub-Inspector came and thrashed me with the help of a stick. I am now unable to raise my hand," said the victim.

Based on the allegations, the concerned Sub-Inspector Himanshu Patra has been transferred to the district police headquarters.  A team led by Chhatrapur SDPO has been constituted to conduct a detailed probe into the matter.

"We have asked Chhatrapur SDPO to conduct an impartial probe. Based on the inquiry report, further will be taken in connection with the incident," said Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meena.
