Students in BJD rally: Varsity serves notice, warns of action
Authorities of the Rama Devi Women's University (RDWU) in Bhubaneswar responded decisively after several students from the premier educational institution were spotted at a political rally previously organised by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), sources said on Wednesday.
A notice has been issued by the university’s Postgraduate (PG) Council to those students involved, informing them of the importance of adhering to the varsity guidelines. The Vice-Chancellor of the university stated that a notice had explicitly banned students from leaving the campus during class hours.

The university administration has also emphasised the need for compliance and has warned of further actions should these guidelines be disregarded.
The notice from the PG Council contains a stern warning regarding the incidents of students participating in such activities outside approved academic pursuits. It warns that further breaches will trigger stringent measures.
To address the situation, the authorities plan to counsel students, with department heads and coordinators advising them to focus on their academic commitments.
“It has been observed that students are roaming outside campus and participating in unsanctioned activities during class hours. HoDs and Coordinators are requested to advise and counsel students to attend the classes regularly and not to involve themselves in activities other than academic pursuits. If students are seen to participate in wayward activities in the future, strict action will be taken,” the RDWU notice read.

When contacted, RDWU Vice-Chancellor Chandi Charan Dash expressed, “With an intention to prevent the students from taking part in wayward activities and to encourage them to remain inside the varsity premises and regularly attend their classes, we have served notice to them. We are also counselling them not to participate in any activity other than academics.”
Worth mentioning, this move follows reports of RDWU students being spotted at a BJD protest held on Monday (January 6) against rising prices.
