Student swept away while taking bath in Odisha’s Chitrotpala river

An 18-year-old student, Kaushik Samantray from Patakura in Jagannathpur village, was swept away in the Chitrotpala river in Kendrapara, Odisha while bathing with friends. The incident occurred around 10 AM on Saturday. Despite efforts by his friends and local villagers, he remains missing. The Garadpur Fire Department has launched a search operation.

An 18-year-old student was swept away in the Chitrotpala river in Kendrapara district of Odisha on Saturday while he was taking a bath with his two friends.

This unfortunate incident happened at around 10:00 AM in the morning. The victim identified as Kaushik Samantray belongs to Patakura in Jagannathpur village of the Kendrapara district.

According to reports, the teen, while bathing went a little deeper into the river where he accidentally stepped on a quicksand. Though his friends tried to pull him out, he was swept away in the strong currents of the river. His friends immediately alerted the local villagers but the victim could not be traced. The local fire department was also informed. 

As per reports, the Garadpur Fire Department swiftly launched a search operation to find the boy.  The search operation was underway till the time of filing of this report. 

This incident highlights the dangers in rivers during the monsoon season and emphasizes the need for better awareness and precaution among the people who live in flood-prone areas as well as people who go to rivers for their daily chores.
