The Rourkela-Puri Vande Bharat Express reportedly witnessed stone pelting near Meramandali on the Dhenkanal-Angul railway section on Sunday.

The glass of one of the windows was reportedly damaged due to the stone pelting. Following the incident, police reportedly rushed to the spot for an inquiry.

In a statement, the Railways, as reported by ANI, said that the security wings of East Coast Railway (ECOR) are working with the local police to track down the culprits.

It is pertinent to mention here that this is not the first time that the Vande Bharat Express train has been targeted in the country. Such incidents also happened in other parts of India.

However, no passenger has been harmed in any of the incidents so far.

“The Indian Railway, particularly the EcoR is consistently making drives to educate the public, especially those residing near the railway lines, to not throw stones at trains that could harm passengers and damage public property,” the ECoR said in a statement.
