As many as eight students sustained injuries reportedly after a stampede-like situation on the 'Baisi Pahacha’ of Puri Srimandir on Monday evening.
According to sources, all the injured are students of Mayurbhanj Hrudanand High School.
The injured students have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital, sources informed.
"The temple was very crowded. Our students were standing in a queue and waiting for their turn for darshan. Due to overcrowding, some of them fainted," said Jyotindranath Dutta, headmaster of the school.
"The servitors and police provided necessary first aid and helped to shift the sick students to the hospital," Dutta added.
"The temple premises was very humid due to overcrowding. Six students of our school lost consciousness due to lack of proper ventilation," a student said.
