Ahead of the New Year, Srimandir witnessed huge rush of devotees who came to pilgrim town Puri to get a glimpse of their beloved Lord Jagannath before bidding goodbye to 2023.

In view of the crowd, the temple administration has taken several measures to ensure hassle-free darshan for the devotees. Arrangements have been made by the police to control the huge gathering of devotees. CCTV cameras have been installed outside the temple with barricades. Special police and home guards and lifeguards have been deployed for tourists, especially near the beach.

At the same time, special security arrangements have been made on the sea beach to avoid drowning as the chances of such incidents are high on such occasions.

On the other hand, a dense fog engulfed Srimandir making it hard for devotees to locate the shrine from a distance. Tourists were seen finding it hard to see the Temple from the Grand Road.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Dwara Phita ritual was held at 5:42am today, delayed by a couple of hours. Morning rituals of Lord Jagannath following the Dwara Phita ritual were also delayed.
