Ahead of the crucial 2024 matriculation examination, Srikanta Tarai has been appointed as the President of the Board of Secondary Education Department (BSE) Odisha on Saturday. 

An official notification in this regard has been issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department (GAPGD).

Prior to his latest assignment, Tarai was earlier posted as special secretary to the Government, Revenue & Disaster Management Department (GRDM). 

It is to be noted that the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination for Class X will commence from February 20, 2024, and continue till March 4.

The State Open School Certificate (SOSC) and Madhyama examinations will also be held simultaneously, BSE Odisha had informed earlier.

The matriculation examination will be held in 2,991 centres across Odisha while 5,51,611 students have registered to appear for the exams. 

Besides, the BSE has decided to make use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered cameras to monitor the conduct of the annual high school examinations next year. The AI cameras will be installed in strong rooms, DEO offices, and examination halls.
