Special Tiger Protection Force to guard Satkosia Tiger Reserve
As per the mandate of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), a Special Tiger Protection Force has arrived in Satkosia to guard the Tiger Reserve.
According to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) in Odisha Susanta Nanda, it is the second one in the State for guarding the Tiger Reserve and taking on the poachers.
Nanda has wished the Special Tiger Protection Force all the best in their duty. According to Nanda, it is going to be a hard and arduous task for the soldiers in the coming days.
“The second one in Odisha for guarding our Tiger Reserve…Special Tiger Protection force comes up in Satkosia as per the mandate of NTCA to take on the poachers,” wrote Nanda on social media account X (earlier known as Twitter).
“Wish them all the best as it is going to be a hard & arduous task for our green soldiers in days to come,” he posted.
Notably, the Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) has been made operational in the states of Karnataka (Bandipur), Maharashtra (Pench, Tadoba-Andhari, Nawegaon-Nagzira, Melghat), Rajasthan (Ranthambhore), Odisha (Similipal) and Assam (Kaziranga), out of 13 initially selected tiger reserves, with 60% central assistance under the ongoing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Project Tiger (CSS-PT).
