A boy sustained critical injuries after a small-sized spear got pierced into his stomach at Ailbhata village under Belpada police limits in Bolangir district on Sunday. The spear reportedly got impaled into the 16-year-old boy's, identified as Raju Senapati, body accidentally while playing.

The spear, called as ‘Gujer’ locally, is still stuck inside the Rajus stomach area. Following the incident, he was initially rushed to Belpada hospital. As the spear could not be removed by the doctors, Raju was later shifted to Bhima Bhoi hospital for advanced treatment.

Raju’s condition is said to be critical.

It can be recalled that a javelin pierced through the neck of a class-9 student during the annual sports meet of Agalpur Boys' High School on December 17, 2022.

The school student was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital in a condition with the projectile sticking through his throat. Later, a team of doctors at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir managed to remove the javelin after an intense operation.
