After receiving anti-venom treatment, Baju's condition improved. The incident has raised safety concerns among locals.

In a shocking incident, an attendant was bitten by a snake inside the female ward of the Anadapur hospital in Keonjhar district late last night.

The victim has been identified as Baju Champiya (23) of Gahala Munda village in the district.

According to sources, Baju’s mother, who was suffering from diarrhoea, is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Due to the unavailability of beds, she was being treated on the verandah of the hospital.

When the duo was sleeping on the hospital verandah, a common krait bit Baju, sources said, adding that his health condition started deteriorating soon after the snake bite.

“I was sleeping on the hospital verandah when a common krait bit me at around 12.50 am. I immediately informed the matter to the doctor. After necessary treatment and administration of anti-venom, I am feeling better today,” said Baju.

Meanwhile, the matter has raised eyebrows with the locals expressing concerns over their safety at the health center.
