Six vehicles gutted in lightning strike on Bhubaneswar outskirts

Panic gripped the residents of Andharua under Chandaka police limits on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar after a house and several vehicles suffered major damage in a lightning strike late on Friday night.

According to sources, lighting struck one Prashant Badajena’s house at Tala Sahi in the area late last night.

The impact of the lightning was so intense that, Badajena’s house developed cracks and the glass panes installed in the house got damaged, sources informed.

Moreover, six vehicles which were parked inside the house gutted completely in the lightning strike.

On being informed about the incident, the Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control. 

Though no causalities was reported in the mishap, property worth lakhs of rupees gutted in the mishap triggered by the lightning strike, source informed.

Meanwhile, the residents of the locality are in fear apprehending further lightning strikes in the area may incur a further loss to life and property.
