Six members of lootera gang arrested in Odisha’s Dhenkanal, booty worth crores seized

Kamakhyanagar Sub-Divisional police arrested a notorious six-member lootera gang in Dhenkanal on Sunday. 

Stolen goods worth crores of rupees were reportedly seized from their possession.

As per reports, the gang was targeting various schools and panchayat offices from 2022 and stealing stuff like children’s mid-day meal rice, oil, LED TVs, fans, inverters, batteries, music systems, computers, laptops, scooters, water filters, other electronic gadgets and even biscuits.

Several cases have been registered against the gang in many police stations of Dhenkanal.

“As many as 64 cases were registered against the gang. Six members of the gang have been arrested and the stolen goods have also been seized from their possession,” said Dhenkanal SP Sandeep Sampad Madkar.

As per sources, the gang was mainly targeting schools and panchayat offices with no security system. They were breaking open the doors by cutting the locks with the help of gas cutters and stealing valuable electronic equipment.
