Veteran journalist Arun Panda passed away at his CDA residence in Cuttack on Monday. He was 76 at the time of breathing his last.

Panda was undergoing treatment at Acharya Harihar Cancer Centre for the last two months after being diagnosed with cancer.

Panda started his journalism career in a premier Odia daily newspaper in 1984. He was well-known as an eminent and fearless journalist in the State. He has worked as a special representative of the newspaper in several districts including Cuttack.

Apart from journalism, Panda was associated with many socio-cultural institutions. He was also an active columnist in many Odia newspapers. He had also carved a niche for himself as a good speaker.

A pall of gloom descended on the State and among the journalists’ fraternities following Panda’s sad demise. Many eminent persons, friends, relatives and journalists thronged Panda’s residence to pay their last tributes to the departed soul.
