Woman assaults husband in court over ‘second marriage’
A dramatic confrontation broke out at Pattamundai Court in Odisha when a woman assaulted her husband for allegedly attempting to solemnise a second marriage. The man, identified as Kishore Mallick of Tunupur village, is reportedly married to Bandana Mallick and is the father of four daughters.
According to reports, Kishore had arrived at the court to contract a second marriage. On receiving this information, Bandana rushed to the spot and confronted him. In full public view, she physically assaulted Kishore, sparking chaos in the courtroom compound and drawing the attention of bystanders.
Speaking to the media, Bandana alleged that her in-laws and husband had continuously harassed her for not bearing a son. “My mother-in-law says they want a son, not a girl, and my husband also supports this. They tortured me and forced me out of the house. My husband said he would marry her through a court marriage. When I got to know, I came with my family and caught them,” she said.
Kishore, however, denied the allegations, insisting that no marriage had taken place. “I haven’t married anyone. They entered my house and dragged me with 10 to 12 people and thrashed me. She is my sister, and I have an FIR stating she is my sister,” Kishore claimed.
Police reached the scene and took Kishore to the local station for his safety. Meanwhile, Bandana staged a sit-in protest outside the court premises, demanding justice and action against her husband.
