As tension gripped Bangomunda in Bolangir district of Odisha following a clash between two groups, the administration has imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC this evening. Titlagarh sub-divisional magistrate Dayamaya Padhi issued a notification to this effect on Wednesday, stating that the prohibitory orders will remain in force from Wednesday 10 AM till Thursday midnight.

Gathering of people, meetings, and rallies have been prohibited. Police also conducted a flag march in the area.

Meanwhile, massive police deployment has been made in the area to ward off any untoward incident as tension is reportedly simmering among the warring groups.

Senior police officials of four police stations and SDPO Gourang Charan Sahu took stock of the situation and have started an initiative to restore peace in the area.

Amid heavy police deployment, the administration has made identity proof mandatory for any outsiders entering the area.

Two days back, five persons were critically injured in the clash that erupted during the ‘Chhatar Jatra’. Police have arrested five people involved in the clash.

The administration and police have reportedly urged the two sides to work for restoring peace while two Dalit associations have also urged people for normalcy and peace.
