‘Sarkar ka maal dariya me daal’. This Hindi adage implying ‘You are free to dump money in the river, if it belongs to the government’ holds true in the case of a recent incident in Mayurbhanj district where hundreds of school uniforms meant for the students were found dumped at an isolated place behind Raruan police station.

Even though several schemes are currently underway like the midday meal, distribution of uniforms and shoes to students to arrest the dropout, the incident of miscreants dumping hundreds of school uniforms has certainly come as a major concern.

It has not been ascertained who has dumped the school uniforms at the isolated place behind the police station. However, preliminary probe reveals that the dumped school uniforms carry the batch of 2013-14 under Sarva Sikshaya Abhiyan.

Block Education Officer (BEO) of Raruan, Ishwar Chand Munda said, “Upon getting information, I had personally visited the spot where the school uniforms were found. After verification, it was found that the school uniforms carry batches of 2013-14.”

According to Munda, other officials have been asked to conduct an investigation by collecting data of nearly 10 to 15 schools in the region. “As a lot of school uniforms are in good condition, we will certainly carry out an investigation and apprise senior officials of necessary action in connection with the incident,” Munda added.
