A headmaster of a school collapsed on the ground and died after hoisting the national flag in Puri district on Tuesday. 

The victim has been identified as Prafulla Chandra Sahu, headmaster of Maleswari Project Primary School under Krushnaprasad block in Puri district. 

As per the report, the students and the teachers assembled at the flag post on the school campus on Tuesday morning. Sahu came and hoisted the tricolor. The next moment he collapsed on the ground. The invited guests and teachers immediately rushed him to a nursing home. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Krushnaprasad Community Health Centre (CHC). However, while undergoing treatment he breathed his last there. 

As the news broke, a pal of gloom descended on the village.  

“After hoisting the flag, he was returning to his office. Just then he collapsed on the ground. He was immediately rushed to a nursing home and then to the Krushnaprasad CHC where he died while undergoing treatment,” said Sudarshan Sethy, president of Krushnaprasad Teachers’ Association. 

While the cause of the death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the deceased may have suffered a cardiac arrest.
