Sarpanch throws feast, bows before ward members in Bolangir to escape no-confidence motion, video goes viral

A purported video of a Sarpanch in Bolangir district throwing a feast and bowing before the ward members to escape from the no-confidence motion against him has surfaced on social media platforms.

The Sarpanch has been identified as Doladhar Bag who has been elected as a public representative from Badabanki Panchayat under Turekela block in the district. 

The video of the incident has reportedly gone viral over various social media platforms.

As per reports, Bag heard that the ward members of the Panchayat are planning to move a no-confidence motion against him. 

Disturbed over the development, the Sarpanch threw a feast and bowed before all the ward members on August 11 to refrain them from moving the no-confidence motion.

According to Sarpanch Bag, some ward members asked him for money. However, he expressed his inability to give them money. He treated them with a feast instead and the matter was resolved.

When Odisha government has given so much of power to the Sarpanchs across the State, this kind of gesture by Bag has raised a question mark over the effectiveness of the prevailing system.
