Sanjeeb Panda on Monday assumed charge as the new Police Commissioner of the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Panda took over the charge from the outgoing Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi.

A special function was held at the Commissionerate Police headquarters in Bhubaneswar on the occasion.

While interacting with the media, the new Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda said, "Today, I have assumed charge and hope that people will extend support to the police to discharge its duties more efficiently.”

According to Panda, the immediate challenge for the Commissionerate Police is general elections which are around the corner. He further said efforts will be taken to ensure that 5T and Mo Sarkar initiatives of the state government are properly implemented so that police can reach nearer to the people and offer better services.

“Apart from law and order and cyber crime, protecting weaker sections of society and women and children will be given special attention,” said Panda.

The outgoing Police Commissioner, Saumendra Priyadarshi said, “I have discharged my duties as Twin City Police Commissioner for two years and 11 months. I extend my wishes to the New Police Commissioner. The journey was quite satisfying for me because of the cooperation we received from the public.”
